New York woman allowed to issue divorce summons through Facebook

New York resident Ellanora Baidoo has been permitted by the Manhattan Supreme Court to divorce her husband using social media platform Facebook as a last resort, USA Today reported on April 7.

Baidoo’s husband is difficult to reach, as he has no permanent residence or workplace. As such, Baidoo’s attorney may issue a divorce summons once a week for three consecutive weeks through Facebook, or until Victor Sena Blood-Dzraku responds, and this will serve as sufficient notice of the summons.

Baidoo and Blood-Dzraku tied the knot in 2009 and lived together for a short time before eventually separating.

Every divorce is different, and it is important to enlist the help of an attorney who has experience navigating the legal nuances of the divorce process to advocate on your behalf.
