Jamie McCourt, the ex-wife of former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers Frank McCourt, was ordered to give back $1.9 million in legal fees after she lost the divorce settlement dispute she pursued, the San Jose Mercury News reported on June 26.
An aspect of the couple’s original divorce settlement mandated that anyone who disputed the settlement must pay the other’s attorney fees. This is what Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon referred to when he mandated Jamie reimburse Frank for his legal fees.
The ruling was given in the midst of another case involving Frank McCourt–a civil trial seeking to find out whether the Dodgers were liable for the beating of a San Francisco Giants fan at the team’s home court in 2011.
