What is necessary in order for police to obtain a search warrant?

In order to obtain a search warrant, law enforcement officials must be able to demonstrate that they have probable cause to believe that a crime has been committed and the search is necessary to conduct an investigation into that act. Additionally. they must be able to convince a judge that this probable cause is sufficient to issue a search warrant.
