Embryo legal cases likely to get precedence in San Francisco court
Dr. Mimi Lee, who is currently embroiled in a legal battle with her ex-husband, Stephen Findley, regarding the state of the ex-couple’s frozen embryos, will likely be the basis of California’s legal rules concerning embryo disputes.
Findley is suing Lee to prevent her from having a child using his and her frozen embryos, which are the only things that can give her hope of having an offspring after she was diagnosed with cancer.
If Lee wins the legal battle, Findley is going to be forced into parenthood against his will; however, if Lee loses, it is possible that she might never have the opportunity to have a genetically-related child, since she is already 46 years old.
